At the age of 95, Fred Hurler still enjoys taking on friends in a game of bowls at Farnborough Bowling Club, based in Canterbury Road.

He has been a playing member for many years during which time he has served on the committee as the fitness guru. He has represented Farnborough Bowling Club and County in over 600 matches. Yet he still found time to mentor the new bowling members and act as assistant to the green keeper.
Fred and his younger playing partner, Norman aged 90, are not always available for matches these days but can often be seen at the club. If you wish to come along to Farnborough Bowling Club and try your hand for free, please visit our website at
