Harriers to make history

ATHLETICS: Croydon Harriers' young athletes will make club history when they enter a mixed team in a national cup final at Manchester on Saturday, September 1.
They are hoping in the afterglow of the Olympics that a generous local sponsor will meet the £1,000 cost of the coach that will take the boys and girls up at 5am on their big day, as costs of an overnight stay are prohibitive.
The youngsters should be inspired by the achievements of fellow Croydon Harriers, James Dasaolu, Lawrence Okoye and Martyn Rooney, who all performed at the recent Olympic Games.
And one of Croydon's Olympic Relay Torch bearers, Mike Fleet, would like to thank everyone who has supported his 'Have your photo taken with the torch project', which has so far raised more than £60 for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
Those who have not yet applied for their photos, especially those taken at Acre Lane, Carshalton, can email: mike@mafleet.co.uk
