Parishioners in Timsbury are to receive a questionnaire in the village newsletter to see if they would support a new bus service from Peasedown St John to Bristol passing through Timsbury.

Members of Timsbury Parish Council heard that a meeting of the working group exploring the viability of the proposal had been held at the Conygre Hall with a follow up gathering arranged at the same venue on September 8.

The Parish Council discussed a request from the Timsbury Cricket Club and Football Club for a donation to their fund to pay off a £40,000 loan incurred following the erection of the new pavilion at the school field.

A donation of £1,000 would enable individuals or organisations to become foundation members and would be recognised by a plaque in the pavilion.

The parish council agreed to review the request at a Finance Committee meeting on September 21.

The parish council heard that Timsbury residents would benefit from the addition of a new minibus to the Keynsham Dial-a-Ride fleet as they will now be able to get to Keynsham or Bath on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.

Key points from the mobile library survey held earlier this year revealed that the service acts as an informal meeting place and that most residents were satisfied with the present schedules.

The parish council was told that Timsbury had been officially entered into the Village of the Year competition for 2010 and that judging would take place during the next three months.

Parish Councillor Ann Gibbons reported that the Conygre Trust had received ten applications for the caretaker’s position at the Conygre Hall and that it was hoped an appointment could be made by the end of July.
