I am Denzil Coulson, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for North East Hampshire. Please let me know what issues matter the most to you and how I can help you as your future MP.

Our 4 steps to a Fairer Britain are:

Fair taxes that put money back in your pocket

The first £10,000 you earn tax-free: a tax cut of £700 for most people.
3.6 million low earners and pensioners freed from income tax completely.
Paid for in full by closing loopholes that unfairly benefit the wealthy and polluters.

A fair future creating jobs by making Britain greener

Break up the banks and get them lending again to protect real businesses.
Honesty about the tough choices needed to cut the deficit.
Green growth and jobs that last by investing in infrastructure.

A fair chance for every child

Ensure children get the individual attention they need by cutting class sizes.
Made possible by investing £2.5 billion in schools targeted to help struggling pupils.
Give schools the freedom to make the right choices for their pupils.

A fair deal by cleaning up politics

Put trust back into politics by giving you the right to sack corrupt MPs.
Restore and protect hard-won British civil liberties with a Freedom Bill
Overhaul Westminster completely: fair votes, an elected House of Lords, all politicians to pay full British taxes.

Let me know what you think of these pledges and how they could matter to you in Fleet.

The points outlined above are inspiring but seem to lack evidence, how do you propose a freedom bill would empower the average joe with anymore freedom than he currently has? Why is it we need bills to tell us we are free in our own country?

You say you would cut down the size of classes, where would 2.5 billion come from? And with ever increasing immigration and the U.K population being around 70 million now, where will all the extra room and teachers be for these kids?

How do you suggest to make certain people completely free from income tax? if they are an exception to the rule than why shouldnt everyone else be? income tax only came to be due to the Napolenonic wars, what use does it have now? Surely the real money lies in coming down on benefits with people who refuse to work and cheat the taxpayers.

Furthermore if you punish the banks and the wealthy, then they might just leave this country and with it our economy, which needs all the help it can get at the moment

A pointed reply- do people agree with the counter arguments posted above? What about the Lib Dem plans to postpone Trident missile system upgrades? This has caused considerable debate recently.
