Current and former students and teachers will be joined by local residents and families on Saturday 26th June as they enjoy the activities on offer and commemorate the past four decades of the school’s role in the community.
“We’ve got lots of different things lined up for the event,” headteacher Kathy Anwar told Fleet-People.
“We’re particularly looking forward to meeting the ex-members of staff and students, who have received special invitations to the reception. Calthorpe’s first headteacher will be attending and giving a speech on the day.”
In addition to a wide range of stalls, games and activities on offer, the event will showcase the talents of pupils currently attending Calthorpe in the form of drama and music performances.
Food and refreshments will be available, with a special appearance from Fleet Indian restaurant The Golden Triangle, who will be conducting their own ‘master chef’ sessions through the course of the day.
The school has also been hard at work assembling an archive of vintage Calthorpe memorabilia for the day, as a testament to the changes that have taken place over the years.
The retrospective collection includes photographs, old uniforms and equipment and even a ‘punishment book’ that is sure to raise a shudder from the less angelic ex-pupils in attendance.
To honour the occasion, Redfields Garden Centre in Church Crookham has donated a red oak tree, to be planted on the school grounds and complimented by a commemorative plaque.
“Everyone is welcome at the reception,” continued Kathy. “We’ve made an effort to invite as many ex-students and staff members as possible, but if anybody hasn’t had an invitation who should have, please get in touch.”
