While walking through the Hart Centre yesterday, Fleet-People stumbled upon the latest exhibition being held by local artist Colin Tophill.

Shoppers in Fleet will probably be familiar with Colin's work, which is usually displayed in his own gallery on the top floor of the centre three days a week. With bow tie and beard, he cuts a striking figure.

Every other month Colin brings him collection of art down to the main concourse of the Hart Centre, giving the public a better chance to view his work. The current exhibition will run until Friday 12th March, and includes a wide selection of local landscape art.

Colin's artistic career began in the 1940s, when he studied at Canterbury College of Art. Since then, he has worked in a variety of creative roles, both for corporations and as a freelancer, carving out a highly successful career.

Every year, Colin produces a popular series of Fleet Christmas Cards, which raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Care. He has been exhibiting his work in the Hart Centre for 12 years.
