Miller's Ark is currently based at Roke Farm, Odiham, but since the site's ownership changed hands earlier this year, the menagerie has no choice but to relocate to a new area.
Currently on the lookout for the farm's new home, Elizabeth Miller explained how a valuable local venture and its staff are at risk from their new circumstances.
"We haven't found anywhere suitable yet, though we've had a few offers," she said. "Miller's Ark employs several people, and it's vital that we try to keep the team together. The farm is more than a commercial enterprise, and means a lot to the local community. If I can't find a site nearby I will have to rethink the whole thing."
Elizabeth went on to describe the local response to her situation. "We've had great support from the local community- that's been one of the best things. People don't want us to leave, and I really hadn't realised how important the farm was to people until now. But the practical aspect has to be taken into account."
Established in 1991, Miller's Ark makes frequent visits to schools, shows, corporate events and residential homes, providing the chance to interact with a wide range of animals and bringing the experience of the farmyard to countless individuals across the South East.
Elizabeth and her team are appealing for offers of suitable sites that Miller's Ark could rent for relocation. While ideally these would already include the necessary facilities for farm animals, she has also expressed interest in open land of a minimum of 40 acres.
If you can help Miller's Ark, please call the farm on 01256 701847, or email Elizabeth at elizabeth@millersark.co.uk. Alternatively, you can leave your details below.
Fleet-People will be following the Ark's relocation closely and will report any further developments as they arise.
